With most of us inadvertently being forced to slow down and spend more time in our homes, why not make those changes and create the oasis you’ve always wanted.

As we become aware of how our personal environment impacts our wellbeing, there is now, more than ever, a need to live in calming, joyous homes.

Here are four design trends for 2022 to help you on the way.

Accent walls

No, it’s not 2003, but feature walls are back with a vengeance, baby! The bolder and brighter, the better. Think coral, fuchsia, shades of green and vibrant blues. If painting a vivid colour is a tad too dramatic for you, wallpaper is another suggestion, or look at artwork, cushions and statement furniture pieces to bring playfulness into your home.

Decadent dining

‘Tablescaping’ is a thing which is set to be big this year, with a growing urge to host friends and family at home. Hide away your work and kids’ homework off the dining table and replace it with luxurious tablecloths, placemats, linen napkins, candles, flowers and stunning dining settings.

Making the most of your outdoor area

Firstly, you need to consider the size and how you want to use this space. It could be an al fresco dining area you’re after or another sitting area. Outdoor furniture is becoming more sophisticated and elegant, and by using similar furniture pieces and matching soft furnishings to your indoors, you’re ensuring it’s a smooth transition between your home’s interior and exterior. Rattan furniture also remains popular this year for both inside and outdoors.

Brown is the new black

Camel, caramels and chocolate browns are all making a comeback, complimenting whites, ivories and creams. This works well as a deep neutral tone for rich, classic, refined spaces.
