Hidden inside Burnett Riverside Hotel is a pearl that’s often overlooked by locals. Under new management, H2o Restaurant and Bar has been given a new lease on life and is well worth a revisit – or several, in fact!

The split level dining room and glass balustrading allows diners to take full advantage of the view from almost every angle, and provides intimate little enclaves for those romantic nights out. Comfortable wicca chairs make it easy to settle in with a glass of wine, and enjoy the sunset or a spectacular lightning show.

The drinks menu features wines from around Australia and New Zealand. Their beer, cider and spirit offering is proudly local, including the likes of Bargara Brewing Company and Ohana Cider.

Don’t be deceived by H2o’s share menu descriptions of small, medium and larger plates: everything is plentiful. Start by sharing oven baked sea scallops with leek puree and three cheese sauce, and sticky miso caramel pork ribs. Simple things, like lamb cutlets with pickled watermelon salad, never disappoint when done well. The rich medium-spiced red duck curry, punctuated by sweet bursts of lychee, is divine.

H2o’s menu has a bold Asian accent, but it’s unashamedly Australian. There is something for everyone. Enjoy a steak off the grill with garlic cream prawns and locally-sourced steamed vegetables. At last, there’s a childrens’ menu that includes more than just fried food. Can’t choose between the four desserts – why not finish the evening with an aperitif or affogato?

Put simply – it’s crowd pleasing fare with flair, complemented by friendly service and a beautiful setting!

Open for breakfast and dinner seven days a week, the only thing they overlook is the river! H2o Restaurant and Bar on Quay Street in the Bundaberg CBD is also available for functions and special events.
