And that’s exactly what David Carter was aiming for when he bought into the franchise in 2017.
David was seeking a change and a new challenge, so he packed up and left the South Burnett to make Bundaberg his home. “I felt that Bundaberg was on the move and had a positive vibe about it,” David said. “We really like the lifestyle here and while we are certainly kept busy, we enjoy what we do.”
With the help of his partner, Noreen, David opened a second store in Hervey Bay in 2019. Their customer base is now spread from Gladstone to Biggenden and Gayndah, south to Tiaro and includes people who are travelling through. In 2020 they were named Barbeques Galore National Franchisee of the Year. “Thanks must go to customers and supporters, and our great staff, who have all contributed to our success,” David said.
Most Saturday mornings, you’ll find the team running a cooking demonstration outside their Enterprise Street store, on a Ziegler & Brown, Turbo, Beefmaster or Weber barbecue. They may even have a smoker or pizza oven in action.
There’s much more to Barbeques Galore than just barbecues. Every outdoor cooking style and technique is catered for in their accessory section, which includes gloves, utensils, cook books and meat thermometers. Buy condiments, wood chip for smoking, kindling, heat beads, firewood and gas bottles.
Warm your backyard with one of their fire pits or patio heaters. The Bundaberg store has timber, aluminium and wicker outdoor dining and lounge settings, as well as sun lounges, umbrellas and egg chairs.
