Just like Alice down the rabbit hole, when you stumble into Clockwork Curiosities in the main street of Childers you will instantly be transported back to your youth.

This private toy and collectable collection is filled with wonderous treasures – everything from the brightly coloured, whimsical and animated to delicate and rare.

A self-proclaimed “tragic” doll and Barbie collector, owner Josie Rigney found herself collecting hundreds of the toys, even sewing clothing for some and entering then into doll shows.

“I was always collecting knick-knacks and china as well, so I decided a few years ago to round out the collection with toys – especially ones for the men – with the view to open a toys and collectables museum,” she said.

“Most of the collection ranges from the 1950s through to the ‘80s. There are a couple of older dolls, but mostly it is fairly modern, which is what we wanted, so more people could relate to it.”

Allow yourself time to browse all the cabinets, looking at every nook and cranny. Chat to Josie about each of the pieces. Alongside the collection, Clockwork Curiosities has a small gift store, with includes special toys from years gone by.

Entrance to the museum is by a small fee.
