Nestled in one of the Region’s most picturesque landscapes, just 2km north of Childers, Vintner’s Secret is a feast for the senses.
Surrounded by hills of sugar cane and macadamia nut orchards, this is a boutique winery with loads of character.
Make your way up the curvaceous gravel driveway to find a homely little oasis. It’s an eclectic venue, teeming with life.
Sub-tropical, English and cottage gardening styles somehow work in harmony to create delightful, fragrant grounds.
Each quirky piece of garden art, made from recycled materials and discarded items, has a story to tell. It’s a relaxing, child-friendly place to spend a few hours on a cool day.
Greet the friendly farm animals and visit the heirloom herb and vegetable garden, before heading inside for wine tasting.
Pick a garden path: they all lead back to the cellar door. Here, they don’t buy in grapes or plant varieties not suited to the Childers climate.
Instead, Vintner’s Secret play to their strengths. They favour varieties like Verdelho, which originated in Portugal.
Telephone ahead to have a picnic hamper of sandwiches, cheese, fresh fruit and cake arranged for you, or enjoy Devonshire tea at Whispers Café.
The hardest choice you’ll have to make is where to lay your picnic rug.
